Birds of Colombia

Genus: Leptotila (7 species, 11 worldwide)

Genus Leptotila are large doves, around 28 cm., which search for food on the ground.

Shy and uncommon. Normally seen inside the forest, usually on the ground. Note orangish back of head (and light eye) compared to much more common White-tipped Dove.

May have a bluish or wine-colored collar. In Colombia found on Isla San Andres.
