Like others in the genus, eats the stem of leaves from some species of tree (genus Inga?).

A medium-sized parrot. May be found at coconut palm flowers.

A beautiful parrot found in lowlands in Colombia, Venezuela, and a bit of Panama. One or two records from Ecuador far from main population. Follows rivers and streams, often stopping at Guamo Machete (Inga spectabilis) trees to eat the stem of leaves, and sometimes leaves.
