Amazilia is the largest genus of hummingbirds, which are medium-sized with a medium-sized slightly decurved bill, and plain or slightly forked tails. Amazilia are usually seen outside of the forest.

A common garden species normally easy to identify with the rufous tail, red bill, and constant chattering.
