Birds of Ecuador

    GALLIFORMES: Odontophoridae (New World Quail)  
Genus: Odontophorus (5 species, 15 worldwide)

Genus Odontophorus, Wood Quail, are small round 'gamebirds', around 25 cm., and are found on the tropical forest floor. Wood quail have ornate feather patterns, with shades of brown, rufous and other earth tones. They are almost always move in groups.
