Piculets (genus Picumnus) are small sparrow-sized woodpeckers. Males generally have red or yellow spots on the head.

Note streaking in front.
A greyish individual, but streaking on front and range indicates Olivaceous and not Greyish.
Female with a mouth full of maggots.
