  A large hummingbird. The male only is common at feeders.

A large hummingbird found in Panama and northwest South America, in gardens and at feeders. There is also an isolated population along the Ecuador/Peru border sometimes called the Ecuadorian Plumeleteer. HBW groups that race with the Bronze-tailed Plumeleteer.

Female from back resembling [Crowned Woodnymph]. Both have white-tipped tails.

  The Caribbean slope race in Costa Rica is called by HBW the Black-vented Plumeleteer, and has very red legs.

  South of Costa Rica the Bronze-tailed Plumeleteer has a white vent.

Less common than the White-vented Plumeleteer, and only found inside humid forests. Note red feet on both sexes.
