Found at high altitudes. More orange with darker hood that similar Peruvian Sierra Finch. |
Widespread in Argentina. Very similar to Peruvian Sierra Finch and Black-hooded Sierra Finch found further north, and Patagonian Sierra Finch found mostly in Chile. Female similar but with less saturated colors. |
Common in agricultural fields and brush in its range. Yellower and greyer than otherwise similar Black-hooded Sierra Finch, but female Black-hooded could be difficult to differentiate in the field. Additional photo. |
