First described in 1995. Found in marshes from Santa Catarina to Sao Paulo.

Vocally very different from Northern White-fringed Antwren.

On the surface resemble Silvery-flanked Antwren. Male grey with white flank and black throat and chest. Female similar to Silvery-flanked. Found in 'deciduous hill forest' above 250m (HBW).
