Larger than the [Green Kingfisher], but smaller than the [Ringed Kingfisher]. Note unspotted wings and large bill compared to size. Plumage can appear green or blue.

A small kingfisher. Note spots on wing and proportionately smaller bill compared to larger [Amazon Kingfisher].

Green-and-rufous Kingfisher
Green-and-rufous Kingfisher (Chloroceryle inda chocoensis) Female
Bahia Solano, Choco, Colombia
  Similar in size to the medium-sized [Amazon Kingfisher]. Similar in color to the [American Pygmy Kingfisher]. The Green-and-rufous Kingfisher prefers shadowy areas, but once found is less timid than other kingfishers.
