Genus: Progne (5 species, 9 worldwide)

Genus Progne, Martins, are large swallows. Like swallows, they generally capture prey (insects) while flying.

Sometimes, but not always, seen in large or very large flocks.

Austral migrant to west Amazon from April to October. Looks very similar to northern hemisphere Purple Martin. Seen in groups of hundreds if not thousands.
