Genus Campylorhynchus are large wrens, often with barring, that generally are less secretive and thus easier to see.

The original Rufous-naped Wren was split into the Rufous-backed Wren which reaches from Mexico to Costa Rica, the Rufous-naped Wren on the Mexican east coast, and Sclater's Wren on the west coast.
