Birds of Peru

Genus: Anthus (6 species, 47 worldwide)

Pipits, related to European Wagtails, are smal insect-eating ground birds found outside of the first in grassy or brushy areass.

Note heavy streaking on chest, flanks and back. Found from the puna to the lowlands.

Recently split from the Yellowish Pipit, and only found in dry habitat close to sea level along the Peruvian and north Chilean coastline.
