The male is similar to the Saffron Finch, but the female is not streaked. |
Common even in urban areas. Expanding range with deforestation. Immatures males often have only a yellow chest band, making then look like a different species. |
Usually found in marshes deep in tall reeds at all altitudes. Sometimes in large groups. |
